THE DARE SETS DELUXE ALBUM WHAT’S WRONG WITH NEW YORK?: AFTERS FOR JUNE 13, “LCA” DEBUTS TODAY

PLAYING COACHELLA, LOLLAPALOOZA, PRIMAVERA SOUND AND MANY MORE GLOBAL FESTIVALS THIS SPRING/SUMMER

“The Dare’s star is rapidly rising”—Hypebeast

April 4, 2025—The Dare continues his breakneck year with the release of a deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed debut album, What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, set for release June 13 via Republic Records. The forthcoming project features three new tracks taken from sessions for his debut. “LCA” is out today—listen here and pre-order/save the deluxe LP here.

Of the song, The Dare shares, “LCA: when the party gets too seedy, too self-destructive, and too excessive. When people get so drunk they start playing Benny Benassi through speakers already blown. Tomorrow seems very far away.”

The first new music from The Dare since his widely lauded debut, “LCA” adds to a landmark few months for the breakout vocalist/producer, who is fresh off a completely sold-out U.K. and European headline tour, an appearance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards with Charli xcx and a number of shows front row at Paris Fashion Week.

Following up his European run and a totally blown out worldwide headline tour last fall, The Dare will take his raucous live show to festival stages around the globe this spring and summer, with sets at Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, Reading, Leeds and more, plus, a slew of upcoming dates supporting French electric duo Justice in California.

The Dare continues to throw his signature party Freakquencies all over the world, most recently playing to 4,000 people in NYC, and making its debut in Mexico City later this month. The club nights, which started in a basement bar in Manhattan, have recently seen guest DJs Doss, Danny L Harle, Dylan Brady, Kelly Lee Owens and many more.

The Dare’s highly anticipated debut, What’s Wrong With New York?, took the world by storm upon release in September 2024. The LP features his ubiquitous first single “Girls”—now a bona fide hit with 52 million streams on Spotify alone—as well as fan favorites “Perfume” and “Good Time.” The deluxe finds The Dare releasing never-before-heard tracks from the album’s original sessions as well as his first cover song, a take on “I Can’t Escape Myself” by The Sound.

Praise for What’s Wrong With New York?...

“The Dare’s album is a party – and you’re invited”—NPR All Things Considered

“a sincerely fun, joyous, laugh-out-loud, self-aware testament to the power of cheek...a love letter to being young and hedonistic in New York...The album is a tight 10-song flex of Smith’s formidable production skills”—The New York Times

“horny, sleazy and dripping with 2000s nostalgia...The Pacific Northwest kid quickly became a symbol for Downtown NYC cool, emerging as both a music and fashion darling...his mix of synth-pop and punk an eclectic shock to ‘supercharge’ our city’s underground scene.”—PAPER

The Dare is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Harrison Patrick Smith. Bursting onto the scene with his global hit, “Girls,” his much lauded The Sex EP drew widespread praise from critics and fellow artists alike. He has shared stages and collaborated with Charli xcx, Yves Tumor, Water From Your Eyes and a host of others, and his legendary DJ sets have soundtracked parties for Gucci, Celine, Yves Saint Laurent and many more.
