EMERGING FRENCH-ENGLISH PIANIST RIOPY DEBUTS NEW ALBUM TITLE TRACK “THRIVE”
WITH VIDEO

FORTHCOMING ALBUM THRIVE OUT APRIL 14 VIA WARNER CLASSICS

PERFORMING CRYPT SESSION AT NYC’S CHURCH OF THE INTERCESSION ON MARCH 28

Emerging French-English composer and pianist RIOPY is debuting the title track off his forthcoming album, THRIVE, set for release on April 14 via Warner Classics. Listen to/share the track HERE and watch/share the accompanying video HERE.

In anticipation of the forthcoming release, RIOPY will perform an exclusive session at one of New York’s most unique performance spaces, The Crypt. Currently hosting an award-winning classical music concert series, The Crypt is in an underground chapel beneath the Church of the Intercession in Harlem. RIOPY’s Crypt session for THRIVE is set for March 28.

RIOPY has previously revealed five singles off the upcoming record, “Nocturne,” “Lily’s Lullaby,” “Sakura,” “Costa Da Caparica” and “Essence of Light.”

THRIVE marks the beginning of a new chapter for RIOPY. It builds on the success of his trilogy of albums, RIOPY (2018), Tree of Light (2019) and Bliss (2021), which have accumulated more than half a billion streams and achieved significant chart success: Tree of Light remains near the top of the Billboard Classical chart after more than 120 weeks. THRIVE will be the first of RIOPY’s albums to include strings alongside the evocative and powerful pianism which has earned the pianist-composer an ever-growing international following.

THRIVE is also a metaphor for RIOPY’s personal journey. During RIOPY’s unique upbringing in rural France he found solace in music, improvising on the piano alone as a means to escape the stress and anxiety of the real world. When he was able to listen to music, RIOPY would imagine expansions of the melodies he heard.

As well as new compositions for solo piano, the album features the composer-pianist’s take on famous music which has most inspired him, including works by Satie, Pachelbel, Beethoven, Fauré, Debussy and Chopin. He has transformed their much-loved melodies into cinematic scores of his own and composed lush arrangements for string orchestra.

“The idea was to show that the same piece can have several facets and arouse different emotions depending on the arrangement,” recalls RIOPY. “Music is a living thing. It’s all very organic: a human being produces a sound by touching or breathing into an instrument; I never tire of this magic. To combine the sounds of bass and violins with my piano brought me immense joy.”
