October 9, 2026—Acclaimed Norwegian singer, songwriter, producer and independent artist Ane Brun unveils a new song, “Eat The Fruit” featuring fellow Norwegian electronic pioneers Röyksopp—listen/share the track HERE. The track is taken from her forthcoming album I Thought We Were The Same, released on November 6 through BMG, pre-save HERE.
“Eat The Fruit” pushes Brun further into an expansive electronic-pop landscape while retaining the emotional depth that has defined her career. The song captures a restless desire for something more—fruit becomes a symbol of forward movement, self-worth and the courage to reach beyond your comfort zone.
Brun details, “‘Eat The Fruit’ is a poetic sister to my track ‘Hand in the Fire,’ which came out in 2023. Both songs circle the same state of mind, one I sometimes find myself in, where I feel like I'm procrastinating and not embracing life or the connections I long for. Perhaps most of all, the connection to myself. It usually brings a deep restlessness and sends me searching for the why and the how. The answers are many-layered, and it may take me a lifetime to work them out.”
On collaborating with Röyksopp, she adds, “It is a dream come true, and hearing my voice and lyrics melt into their signature sound is truly something special. I love how they've shaped the song into something dark, entrancing and liberating all at once, and I hope it will fill dance floors, headphones and many, many music-loving hearts around the world…”
“She had an idea, she had a vision, and we were lucky enough to be invited into her domain. Ane, as an artist, is a rare creative talent with a one-of-a-kind, signature voice. Working with her has been butter smooth. A privilege,” Röyksopp says of working with Brun.
Her new album, I Thought We Were The Same, is set for release on November 6 via BMG, pre-save the LP HERE. The album is Brun’s most personal and compelling album to date, and her first collection of newly written music in six years. It’s a powerful set of songs exploring trust, identity, betrayal and the remarkable human capacity to rebuild.
Previous single and album opener “Hold Me,” co-written and produced with Norwegian electronic artist ARY, captures the tension between longing and illusion. The lyrics explore two lovers who are both dysfunctional and passionate, driven by an almost primal need for the simplicity of closeness. Neither can leave and neither wants to stay, leaving them suspended in emotional limbo.
At the heart of I Thought We Were the Same lies a universal question: what happens when the people we trust most become strangers? Rather than focusing on a single relationship, the album examines the fragile architecture of trust itself - how it shapes our lives, how easily it can fracture, and why, despite everything, we continue to choose connection. “This album became a way of understanding how deeply trust lives in us,” says Brun. “It’s extraordinary that we continue to trust each other, knowing it can be broken at any moment…”
For more than two decades, Ane Brun has built an extraordinary career entirely on her own terms. As an artist, producer and founder of her own label, she has earned international acclaim for her unmistakable voice, fearless creativity and uncompromising independence. With I Thought We Were the Same, she once again demonstrates why she remains one of contemporary music’s most distinctive and visionary artists.
